About the flag
Known as La Estrella Solitaria, the lone star, it was adopted in 1817 during the fight for independence. Blue is for the sky, white for the snowy Andes and red for the blood of patriots.
How to spot it: White over red with a blue square holding one white star in the top-left; Cuba and Puerto Rico put their star in a triangle instead.
