About the flag
Adopted after Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878, it is often said to be modelled on the Russian tricolour, with the blue swapped for green to represent the land.
How to spot it: Horizontal white-green-red with white on top and no emblem; Hungary has the same colours but in red-white-green order.
