About the flag
The five white points of the zigzag stand for the Five Pillars of Islam. White was added to the plain red flag in the 19th century, when Gulf rulers signed treaties with Britain.
How to spot it: Red with a white zigzag band at the hoist making five points; Qatarโs is maroon with nine points and much longer.
