About the flag
According to legend, Duke Leopold V’s white tunic was soaked in blood at the Siege of Acre, except where his belt had been, leaving a red-white-red pattern. It is one of the oldest national flag designs.
How to spot it: Three equal horizontal bands of bright red, white, red; Latvia’s is a darker maroon-red with a thinner white stripe.
