About the flag
The centrepiece is the ลกahovnica, a red-and-white checkerboard shield, topped by a crown of five small shields representing Croatiaโs historic regions, including Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, Istria and Slavonia.
How to spot it: Red-white-blue horizontal stripes with a red-and-white checkerboard shield in the centre; no other tricolour has the checkerboard.
